MH metal pearl shank buttons are decorative garment buttons that carry a pearl, nacre-like face on a metal base and fasten through a shank loop on the back rather than through sew-through holes. 

The metal body is die-cast in zinc alloy and then rack plated, with the surface ground and finished before the pearl face is applied.
